Norwalk Hospital is a 366-bed academic and community medical center serving Fairfield County, Connecticut, and the surrounding New York Metro area. We are a Level II Trauma Center and Joint Replacement Center of Excellence, and we provide advanced cancer, heart, and neuroscience care.

To provide direct and indirect nursing care to a patient or a group of patients. Responsibilities will be working in the admitting 25%/recovery50%/ procedural room areas 25%.

Required: Current RN License in State of Connecticut
Working Conditions
Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
Occupational: Significant occupational risk
Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force
Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.

Summary
To provide direct and indirect nursing care to a patient or a group of patients. Responsibilities will be working in the admitting 25%/recovery50%/ procedural room areas 25%.
Responsibilities
- Adheres to established Nursing Standards of practice to include: Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation.
- Practices according to Unit-based Protocols.
- Administers medication/IV solution according to Norwalk Hospital policy/procedure and consults appropriate resources for information as needed.
- Assesses learning needs of patient and family or significant others.
- Plans and provides appropriate instruction.
- Assesses and documents effectiveness of teaching.
- Participates in unit-based activities andparticipates in Nursing/Hospital Committees.
- Attends staff development - Continuing Education Programs and attends JCAHO and OSHA programs annually.
- Maintains and updates Educational Record
- Maintains a positive working environment through personal example and fostering teamwork.
- Facilitates patient care and delegates responsibilities to other team members to provide a therapeutic environment.
- Assumes role of charge RN and demonstrates independent problem solving and decision making skills.
- Demonstrates good organizational and prioritization skills, able to assist in orientation and teaching of nursing personnel.
